Statement on the Black Lives Matter Protests

Freedom, justice, and equality are the values upon which our country was founded. But the recent killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of law enforcement officers are the latest reminder that the struggle to achieve these ideals has not been won. We, the Faulkner County Democratic Party, stand in solidarity with the protestors and community leaders working to redress the inequalities that persist in our judicial system and law enforcement practices.

First Ever FCDP Science Livestream

On May 3, 2020, the Faulkner County Democratic Party hosted our first ever Science Livestream! Chair David Barber hosted a discussion about the coronavirus pandemic with Dr. Laura MacDonald, Morris and Ann Henry Odyssey Assistant Professor of Biology at Hendrix College, who teaches a course on pandemics, and Dr. Benjamin Rowley, Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Central Arkansas, who teaches courses on Immunology and Virology.

Conway Pride 2019

We had a table at Conway Pride 2019. Our goals for this event were community outreach and voter registration. Thanks to our membership who recognized the importance of this event and volunteered with us!

We had special stickers made for this event and Vice Chair Christi Berry crocheted a blanket to offer as a raffle. We collected contact information for at least 25 people who we hope will be active Democrats in the future!

Party Like It’s 1919 Casserole Contest

This event was co-hosted by the Faulkner County Democratic Party and Faulkner County Democratic Women in honor of the centennial of Arkansas’s ratification of the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote.

Honorees were awarded suffragette sashes for their contributions to local politics and community.

The main event of the evening was the casserole contest with one unique rule: The recipe must include at least one ingredient that was readily available between 1910 and 1919!
